Inside out print which materials would you use
« on: January 30, 2012, 08:08:30 AM »
Inside out print! ;D

Yes if a full color print should be placed on the inside of a store window (I gona use it for something similar).
So I print on clear vinyl with clear adhesive with the printjob in mirror.
Laminate it with white vinyl on the printed side of the clear vinyl.
Contour cut it, peel the backing from the transparant vinyl and stick it to the inside of the window.

Any one work with this situation before?
Used cast or calendered vinyl?

Any hints and tips would be usefull.

Thanks, Paco

If what you are doing needs to contour to the application surface, the cast vinyls should follow those irregular surfaces better.  I don't know how well laminates do, though, because I've not been in a situation to need them.  Others might give out hat information, or if the situation allows, a spray laminate could solve it for you.  If it is flat work, the cast will still last longer in the UV.

Openco,

Currently I wrap polycarbonate model car bodies from the outside.
http://www.vinylforum.org/smf/vehicle-wraps/modelcar-wraps/45/
So print on white and laminate clear.
Is use polymere for both with good results.

But I had a customer request if I could do it from the inside.

My first answer was no, as I could not figure out how to do it untill someone else showed it was possible for small parts of the body.
This made me thinking if I could do a full wrap with panels like the outside versions I already make.

I had a test where I printed on Arlon laminate 3420 and covered it with monomere white from Metamark to get the white back.
This was just a test to see if the clear glue of the laminate would be visible when viewed through the polycarbonate from the outside.
This seems to work well, knowing the monomere put on a calendered foils is asking for shrinking problems! ;D
But this was just a test.
