FDC vinyl?
« on: June 02, 2011, 02:57:36 PM »
Local sign supply only carries FDC vinyl.

I'm interested in what people think of it.  I've been switching to Oracal.

I have tried it , its not bad but it isn't Oracal or MacTac. I would put it with General Formulations.

Their colored to me is about the same as Oracal, but their white vinyl is not even close.  You can cut so much more fine detailed stuff with Oracal than you can with FDC.  My local supplier only stocks FDC also and I use their colored but order white from Fellers in the 50 yrd rolls.

I've never used anything other than Oracal. Isn't FDC vinyl 3M?

All I have used since I started is FDC. The white is the only color that's a real PITA! But the other colors cut well and have a fairly high life.

No complaints from me either with FDC stuff & no its not 3M material, as someone else said it might be rebranded General Formulations stuff, their numbering system is strangely similar.

The reason I asked is I picked up a 3M color chart from my supplier yesterday and guess what is printed on the cover in two places? FDC! I might add that 3M is also printed on the cover as well. So.... I was asking and confused. I bought some premium 3M to match color. Hope it cuts nice I never have used it.

According to my guy at 3M, FDC is a sign supply company that sells 3M vinyls as well as Mactac and some other brands as well as their own privately labelled "FDC vinyl" that 3M does NOT manufacture for them. So who knows its all still a mystery LOL!

That seems odd to me. A huge company like 3M has someone else market their products for them.  :-\

3M sells their stuff thru tonnes of sign supply places, we get all ours thru ND Graphics up here or ink4u.ca or Proveer etc, the companies just have their names printed on the 3M color charts I would assume as a reminder where to buy it from, my oracal charts have ink4u.ca logos on em.

Web address inside chart. http://www.fdcfilms.com/ That is not FDC vinyl company? They offer 3M, RTape etc... but.... hmmmm... confuzeled now.  ??? Every other page has fdc web address and on other pages 3m web address. I did not buy or get this chart from FDC films or FDC sign supply company. I'm thinking FDC films is a sub of 3M. Who knows... lol all I can say is what I see.

I have seen this to on some of my info from shows,, i am always confused,,,  if 3m is with FDC or what,,,

I do know That Roger at Heatpressvinyl.com picked up  FDC sign vinyl as well, I have been ordering it from him, normally i get Oracle but I have been happy with the FDC as well.
