The 3M's matte is more "matte" than the Oracal, I would say the Oracal was more "satin" than Matte but thats a personal perference thing.
The issues we were having was when you try and reposition the material it leaves tiny little bits of glue behind which will leave little bumps under the finished wrap, from 6 feet away you cant see it but when yer dealing with "matte wrap customers" trust me they notice.
The second issue is the thickness isnt even. When doing stuff like complex bumpers you will need to prestretch and restretch areas that have heavy compound curves, with the 3M material we never had any problems but with the Oracal stuff ive had areas blow apart when ive applied medium to moderate pressure from behind ruining hours of work and hundred of dollars of material
Third, you cant use primer. If you use primer it will melt the glue off the vinyl and render it useless. For deep channels and indents you NEED primer for it to last more than a few days. We asked the Oracal rep about all of these issues and he basically said it was just vinyl and it has its limitations, but they were working on it.
