I want to make a tshirt using heat press vinyl......
« on: December 13, 2011, 03:36:20 PM »
but when I cut the different colors.... it doesn't layer correctly on a black shirt.

Any thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong or is the file screwy?

This shirt is for a friend.... I should say enemy. All my friends are Gators not Bulldogs.  :D

Thanks. ;)

are you having trouble with gaps when you are pressing it? If so you will want to have your bottom color cover the entire print area and the next layer cover all the area it is need. the heat press vinyl shrinks a small bit which will cause the shirt color to show through when layering.

When I do multi colors the first layer I only press for a few second enough to adhere a bit then I do my second color the same way.  Once all yours colors are on then press for the whole time.  As previous poster said it shrinks and this prevents it from shrinking as much and be able to put other layers on without the gaps.

No, I cut the file using regular oracal vinyl & using my light box, I can see that the layers aren't coming out right.
The teeth are covered with black if I cut it the way you normally would.

Does that make sense?

Thanks, yeah me too. But I'm just cutting the file & it's not coming out right. I haven't even started to press yet.

Vette does it work better with a white outline around it so the dog outline shows up?  Then all you should need to cut is the white and red

Just a trick I use when cutting the bottom layer,
I increase the the size to 101% to allow for shrinkage

That will work Scott... Thank You. ;)

But I did have to send the black & the white colors at the same time to cut, using only the white vinyl.
This allowed the teeth to be seen, otherwise the mouth area was all black.

Now I just need to cut the 'G' out of the red and I'll be able to see the shirt there also, so no need to use black vinyl there either.

I guess it's hard for a Gator to perfect that which is Bulldog...   ;D

I shouldn't stir things up as I don't have a "dog" in the fight.  I went to Berry - GO VIKINGS!
