Targeted Business Marketing: Unified Effort
« on: August 11, 2011, 09:55:16 AM »
Hey all,
Just wanted to run this by everyone.

My thought is we start a section for unified marketing efforts. Basically the idea has 3 parts.

1) We start a thread for a month with a targeted focus. Focus would be on things like chiropractic, coffee shops, etc. We then as a team start designing and posting ideas. Other members would post too, and could also take what you started and edit, add, or modify to bring out new twists to the ideas. If you design skills are still at the beginner stage, your ideas in words would spark ideas for the more advanced.

2) Toward the end of the month, members would then take ideas from the thread and make up some samples to deliver to customers. Get feedback, and then hopefully pick up new business.

3) The last part of the gig would be to post the results. What you used and if you got business so we can cheer you, and see the results of this combined effort.

I think in most places there would be a substantial amount of poaching of the ideas without contribution, but in this forum, I think it would be more successful. This is a very collaborative community who get that sharing ideas is what makes us all successful. I know my local mentor is in the process of teaching me tons on graphics programs!

Let me know your thoughts on this.. if you think it would this would be worth while. Ohh.. I think it should require a min amount of a post count like vector sharing.

I like the idea as well. if you are worried about poaching, it could be set up as a private section and only invitees would be able to see it. of course that is up to da bossman.

I guess I wouldn't be opposed to poaching, just keep it within the primary people who actively post. I want to make sure we support those who support this great community. This would be a great perk to be a part of this community of posters, and even more so to those who participate in it. It's nice when you have an idea and someone does something that takes it one step further, or has a funny twist that would seal a deal!

I had an idea to add to this I thought about trying to make some type of catalog with everything that most of us do each person could change the logo and background of their catalog to one of their liking if someone orders something you yourself do not produce we need a list of services each members with full contact info so we can get the job done for them

This is a great ideas as well! When I signed up for ASI they sent me some catalogs that customers really liked. Most people purchase visually so something as simple as a flyer can really help increase sales.

I know I'm new here, but I love the idea of this. I love it when people are willing to help others succeed, and hopefully I can contribute something useful too!

How should we proceed on this? Would it be too much to request a dedicated section for this?

Business Marketing / Focus Group. What would we call this?

Admins? Can we make this happen? Thoughts? Are you ok with the forum doing this?

I would propose/volunteer to get a few topics started, and also create some threads for people to post target markets and ideas of how to get into them. Then we can choose one from that list and use it as the first focus. Team effort!

If we do this, and you all are concerned about "newbs" stealing the ideas, we can put a forum up that requires X number of posts for access.  Would that be sufficient?

that would be good for me I have a few things in the works but did not want people that contribute to just be able to get the goodies and run I have it setup on a server now and have let a few members use it. It is down for the moment but can be back up soon but it is a graphics repository

I would say 150 or 200 post would be good
