Buyer/Seller Rating System
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:23:23 PM »
I've seen on some other forums a rating system alot like ebay ratings, where people can submit + or - ratings for other members that they have bought or sold items too, Is this something that we could possibly add here to help out the members & weed out any unscrupulous people that may try to defraud us of 100 bucks? LOL!

If not, what i've done in the past is if the person didnt pay for tracking, I take a digital photo of the receipt from the post office & email it to them, that way they have at least SOME proof that the item was shipped.

Sounds good to me.

Just make sure the system has a built in way of dealing with retraction.

Sometimes the buyer and seller agree neither were really at fault for an issue after the dust has settled.

Know what I mean?

I'm sure the addon will allow the admin to edit the postings if needed.

If you don't like me, don't contact me.  I don't need to be rated like a credit bureau or something.  Remember you will always contact me first, not the other way around.

IMO... I would Not use a rating system. If you have a problem-let the other members hear both sides & just let them use their own judgement.
Personally, if I needed something completed by a member- I would pm others to see if they used the person that I was thinking about using, to see if they had any problems with them.

I know that life has a tendency to change & catch people off guard and they sometimes can not reply right away, but the ones that are habitual thiefs would be weeded out when it goes public.

:D

I don't blame you.   Putting a system like this in place is going to cause more trouble than it will solve.

Maybe we can add a special ICON on peoples profiles that are proven trusted vendors so that ppl know who offers services and what services are offered.

"proven trusted vendors" in whose opinion?   Is the forum offering to back up that rating/underwrite the vendor in the event of a bad transaction?

Proven/Trusted where there has been more than 5+ people who have done transactions with them and they can report that to us and the person would earn that reputation. I don't see a way that the board could back a transaction up financially. We are just basiclly bouncing around some ideas right now. It would be nice to have a way of knowing who does what services and if they have done good work in the past.

Ok then what about BEANS??? On this one site, lets say someone does something nice for you like sends you a yard of vinyl for free, you give them a BEAN in return. These beans accumulate next to your name & is a graphic representation of how much you have helped out your fellow members. Someone with alot of BEANS would be more likely to be trustworthy than someone with NO BEANS lol!

That sounds pretty cool. A old forum that some of us were on had a Thanks system where you could thank someone and it showed how many thanks they had received.

I think for that to work properly, they should only be able to be thanked once by each individual.
