Sublimation Use Only?
« on: January 06, 2012, 07:38:19 AM »
Okay....for those of us that are still on the fence about adding a
desktop sublimation printer to our arsenals.....

Can you print other things with the high temp inks or do you just
use the printer for sublimation stuff?

Could you print vinyl decals, photos, business cards, envelopes, etc?
Or is the ink only for heat applications and too expensive for
"regular" printing?

I have the two separate systems.

The high temp ink when printed looks slightly faded and dull. Once it's transferred it brightens up. At least with the 1100 it's that way. I wouldn't use it for anything but dye-sub.

I have three setup:

Epson 1100 high temp ink
Epson 1400 pigment ink
Epson 1400 dye based ink

I use the dye based for general printing such as invoices.  All three are set up on bulk ink systems.

Like stated above, use dye sub inks for sublimation items.  They look dull and drab if not heat set.... and they cost too much money for everyday printing.  ;)
