are you using a wrap & oven or a mug press? It almost sounds like the paper is not getting good pressure against the mug.

If you are using the wraps make sure they are on straight and tightened snug but not super tight.

If you are using a press test fit a mug while its cool with a sheet of paper wrapped around it. If you can wiggle the paper or pull it out with the press closed you don't have much pressure on the mug.

Agree with bigfoot its called ghosting comes from loose paper around the mug, or opening the mug press applying more pressure then closing it again and also can come from not cooling the mug or peeling the paper fast enough.  Fill the sink with luke warm water as soon as you remove the mug peel off the transfer then dip it slowing in water and leave it for a while.  Should solve your problem...

also found out with sublislate that too much time will cause an image to not be as sharp
