Conde 16oz Steins
« on: December 06, 2011, 11:02:30 AM »
Has anyone else tried doing the Steins from Conde?. It says use the same wrap (Dyewrap-10) Which is also used for the coffee mugs.  The steins have a raised ring on the top and bottom. I use the mug paper and just trim it down a bit so it fits just inside those rings but the wrap itself covers the entire thing and the image in parts is turning out blurry because the contact is not as tight.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have a can of the pro spray but I normally use tape. Even with the spray I would think I would run into the same issue. The wrap is taller than the printable area and with the raised ridges it doesn't allow the wrap to sit tight against the image.

Talked to Conde tech support a little bit today and I need to call them back when I get home but. There site says use dyewrap-10 which is the one for mugs but it is too large for the steins with those raised ridges. The one they had one there test bench fits in between the ridges but there was no item number and I don't see anything on the site that even comes close to working.

Hopefully I will have some more information later.

Just shootin' from the hip on this one... Conde has a green heat conductive rubber pad.  I would try one of these and cut it to the size you need on the stein, then you could use the wrap around the outside.  Kind of using the green pad like a spacer for the wrap.  I haven't tried this so I don't know if it would work, but I think it would be a plausible solution.  Also recommend using the Pro Spray for image contact.

cutting the green pad would be an expensive solution. maybe a thinner wrap - I personally love the cactus but in this case one of the ones without the reinforcement would allow them to conform better.

I haven't tried another one but I was told to try a few different things.

First they said to not use any wrap at all. Just pro spray it and tape it and heat and then they told me to try it but you have to wet it first on the outside of the paper..  If I would have known they were going to be this much of a hassle i wouldn't have ordered them.

Just to update on these.

I had a chance to make a couple steins and still cannot get a good clean transfer using the Dyewrap-10 and using the wet method as they have suggested.

The top and bottom edges of the design are coming out ok and the middle is very splotchy looking. I dont have enough of a green pad to try that without purchasing one.

Finally got a couple to transfer right.

There website says 12 minutes but it's actually 17. I finally spoke to some product development person and we found the issue. Also wetting the paper seemed to help as well.
