Challenge!
« on: January 19, 2012, 12:38:11 PM »
Wow, the biggest challenge to date.
Customer comes in with broken, 100 year old etched glass from a gun cabinet (Other side was broke years ago) and needs it duplicated.
I didnt quite know where to start... I photographed glass, traced in Corel, added cut lines, made stencil and blasted and shaded.
Original was blasted 50/50 on both sides, very cool technique!
Couldnt have done it without Norm Dobbins by my side R.I.P.!!
Whew!

Was your customer happy?

Great job. Did you not blast on both sides?

Customer is coming in this afternoon.
Both sides would have been a bit more expensive so we decided one side would be OK.
I've done some 2 sided mirrors, pretty neat!

That looks great. Can you tell me more about "blasting both sides"? I mean besides the obvious, I get it. I've never seen or heard of this technique.

Great work. Have seen a few mirrors etched on both sides on older pieces.

Thanks for all the nice comments.
Customer came in and loved it!
As for blasting both side, the original artist took every other "element" and placed them on either side. Not only that but blasted in differing pressure. None of the original was blasted "white" but almost shaded.
In trying to get close to this effect (Without doing both sides) I blasted at shading pressure, like about 1 psi.
Thanks again !
