I bought a used hopkins 4-4 to start with. Its in a pile behind my shop. would not hold registration to save the world. arms were tweaked, shock all shot and micro reg on about last thread. For what I had into it and the cost to rebuild better to throw it out the door. I bought it blind not knowing anything about it or how to use it.

Then went with a 4c 2s silver from Ryonet. Loved it. Loved the kit as everything was there i needed. No quessing and trying to figure out what I was missing. Plus the video library in itself was worth loads.  And now I am using that as backup and for simple designs and now have a hopkins 6c 4s i got from them last month.

If you can afford it go with the kit. Everything you need to get rolling is right there and they support their products and customers. Set aside time and watch the videos, then refer back to them as you begin your first setups.

it is impossible to compete with the commercial screenprinters. they can and do work practically for free.

Don't think of it as competing.  Find what the big screenprinters can't and/or won't do, and work that market.
