Is there any thing else besides.....
« on: January 18, 2012, 05:38:24 PM »
citra paste to use for an ink degradent. It doesn't matter about attacking the emulsion, because I'm using vinyl on my screens like beardown showed us a few years ago.
Thanks.  ;)

Holy sh*t, don't use citra paste everytime!  That stuff is expensive and bad for you..  **edit - Do you mean the citrapaste from CCI or the citrus paint remover paste?

Any screenprinting company sells press washes or ink degradents.   Are you having problems with the vinyl leaving glue behind or just cleaning the ink off?

I have used PW-305 from Lawson, which works fantastic but has a strong citrus smell.  Right now I am using some different stuff that I wouldn't recommend, but a friend uses CC147 from SSS/Ryonet and it's not nearly as bad.

I hate that shit, It leaves a greasy residue behind.  Shame too, because it's made less than 40 miles from me.

I buy cc147 in 5 gallons pails. Use it just as a press wash. I do use citra paste in my washout booth prior to emulsion removal. If your screenprinting your going to go thru lots of chemicals. I did try reclaim tanks to but Im just to much of a clean freak for that and hated having aluminum frames with liquid in them.

I did do a few screens with vinyl a year ago, hated it. I was to nervous about it failing and the detail just was not there. Anything really short run I just use thermoflex anyway. Takes 10 min to burn and clean out a design.  I burn all mine and always have at least 5 ready to burn in the darkroom. Currently with my repeat customers I have about 220 screens labeled in racks and about 25 job screens that get recycled as used.

I haven't had that problem.

I don't have room for a darkroom & found that the vinyl works great. I can do 40-50 shirts without any problems using the vinyl process, but I don't want to do that many with heat press vinyl. I would rather just get out of screen printing all together. Thanks for all the info guys.  ;)
