Decided to get my feet wet........
« on: August 06, 2011, 07:35:54 AM »
after getting so many request for screen printing.
So yesterday I bought a bunch of sreen printing supplies & a one color Ryonet press.
I don't have room for anything larger, so this seems to be a great starter setup or even to see if it's something that I what to grow into.
Now I need to watch the dvds & learn.  :D

I know I will have A LOT of question for the screen printers here..... I'll need A LOT of help.  :D

First question......... all the screens are 74 mesh......... is this good or bad?
Told ya I'll ask alot.  ;D ;D

Actually, I bought everything used but in like new condition with tubs of ink, 12 screens and a huge assortment of supplies locally. Good ole Craig's List. ;)

Congrats Vette, there's $$$$$$ in shirts.

That's what I need to figure out now..... what I can charge in my area.  ??? ???
Seems like my competition is really high from what my customers are telling me.

I havent' been asked for more than one color designs yet, everyone just wants one color. In regards to screen mesh: The lower the number, the bigger the mesh gaps are. Usually the 2 digit numbers are used for glitter ink, etc. 110 mesh and 156 are probably the most used because they can be used with any simple graphic. 200-230 more detailed, 230 can be used for neck labels, etc. I think if you mess with the mesh numbers, you quickly learn what designs work for what mesh count. Good luck. I use 110's

Vette, there are a couple of places here in FL that you can order screens one in Clearwater and the other over on the east coast that I have
done business with. I ordered a new screen from the one on the east coast and got it the next day. They have both aluminum and wood frames. We use both 110 and 160 and mostly one color. Congrats on the new equipment and have fun.

we use 110 for almost everything except fine detail or real small print we use 160. 74 is just going to dump to much ink on the shirts and can give a rough hand when printed. The big thing is to get your screens right, make sure to clean well and de-grease them. Are you useing cap film or liquid emulsion? How are you burning your screens?

I got alot of screens in the deal & a roll of screen mesh for rescreening.
Right now I'm using 500 watt light for burning the screens.
