Cost to get into screen printing?

How much would it cost to get into screen printing single color t shirts? By cost I am referring to the cost of equipment needed, not to include t shirts, etc.

for one color only it shouldn't be a lot, but it depends on how many t-shirts you plan on printing every time. If just a few, you can cut your design on vinyl and use it on your screen instead of using emulsion, that saves you the chemicals, exposing and curing (assuming you have a vinyl cutter)
The vinyl won't hold up for too long, you can get capillary film instead of liquid emulsion, a little more pricey but easier to work with, you'd still need chemicals to reclaim screens after use.
You can get a 1 color press on the web for a little more than $100 or you can make your own for little less, or use jiffy hinges.
Gives more info and we'd be able to help you more

I would look at silkscreennow.com if you want to get started for "relitively" cheap. and I would keep an eye out on craigslist and ebay. I got a four color single station press off of ebay for $100. It was worth about $500.
Hope this helps.

Watch CL - lots of people have the idea to do it but not the drive once the work starts. Our little group knows what's up!

OK, I consider my self the Self Appointed "Queen of Craft", that's craft Dakota, not
crap
I agree with Dakota as to people not having the drive to go through with it. Consider how much of a commitment you want to make. I went the YUDU route, it suites my purpose, but I'm not making hundreds of 4 color shirts at a time. I've recouped the cost of the machine and saved by printing my own shirts and packaging.
A lot of people down this machine but I don't know how many have actually used it.
Here's my advice, hit HSN order a yudu. Try it for 30 days and see if you even like the whole screen printing process. You'll get the basic of printing and if you don't like it send it back, if you do like it but you feel you need more sophisticated equipment, send it back, at least you can try before being committed to a large out of pocket investment. With flex pay you make one payment and if you send it back you'll only be out the return shipping($25). Also google hsn coupons for extra savings.
There are people actually running their businesses with this machine.
FYI-I used this for burning my screens, but no longer use there branded supplies
(too much$$)
