I really like the look I get from the 80 grit garnett that I get from TS, it cost about 25.00 for 50 lbs., I also use 70 grit from Harbor freight. That is just my opion, I like doing alot of fine line work and i find the garnett does a better job than the coal slag. Like I said that is just my opion.

I use the Black Diamond in 40/80 grit from TSC.  It's less than 1% free silica.  It will etch a hole through the glass if you leave it in one spot long enough, so it will give you the depth and texture you get from the play sand, and it won't kill you.  Always wear eye protection and a mask when blasting, regardless of what you're using. It's not just the media to worry about inhaling, its what you're removing from the surface you're blasting.

My rule, if it's not air, it not going in my lungs (unless of course I swallow something the wrong way, in which case coke, food, spit, etc. may enter, albeit unintended. ;))
