For those of you with HF Blast Cabinets
« on: December 31, 2011, 04:53:59 PM »
Do find your dust collection/vac port to be an odd size? mine is the exact diameter as my shopvac hose (2.5 in.) so the hose won't go in. I'd rigged my smaller vac to fit, then stumbled upon this adapter from Shop Vac.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004RHKU/ref=oh_o02_s00_i00_details

It's made of heavy weight rubber, so it can be made to fit virtually any hose size.  I've replaced the dust port on my cabinet with this (cut off to fit my smaller vac) and now I can use either shop vac without having to rig anything or change out adapters.  If you've got the same problem, I would HIGHLY recommend this mod.

What's your setup look like? Right now my vac is connected straight to the cabinet.

yeah, I've got mine running through a bucket, but I still had the issue of the hose not fitting the port on the cabinet.

Does the square hole pattern fit the HF cabinets?

Nice find man!  Mine is a PVC reducer wrapped in electrical tape,  :D

It does, but I had to add some washers because the holes in the rubber are the same size as the screw heads.
