Cheap office space
« on: November 09, 2011, 09:48:19 AM »
This probably isnt news to anyone here, but it was news to me, so just in case anyone else is under the same rock I am, I thought I'd post this.

Just this week my wife and I decided we needed a storage unit, mostly to put all the new Halloween stuff we bought, and secondly, to make up for the space I stole in the basement for my cutter, heat press, laser, computer, work table, etc ;)

So I'm shopping about, and decide that Extra Space Storage had the best price. I go in to sign up, and I see they have office space available, utilities included, from as low as $250 a month, no lease necessary. Huh? So I ask him and go take a look. The spots arent huge, the $250/month was a 10x12 room, no window... BUT... it was commercial office space. Big enough to hold my stuff, be a mailing address thats not my home, etc.

I'm not bringing in enough profit yet to warrant the space (and working out of my home is SO convinenent), but they are absolutely the first place I'm going to look into when I need to upgrade my space.

I never thought of checking out a storage space for rentable office suites...

Yeah, they're great for getting away and working without distractions. I used to have what they call an "executive suite".

That is a good deal including power. Would they charge more though if you are running a lot of electricity say from a heater and your computer, equipment? I have a guy that has a shop across the street. It already has the office in it and a big enough space to store some of our recreational vehicles. His price is 200 but that doesn't inculde water/garbage, electricity, internet(although my connection might reach) etc. It would end up being more then 400 amonth for the place. I am with you I don't have enough profit but would be nice to have a front door where people could see that I do this.

I think it would help my sales to have a store front of some sort I work from home and many calls I get people wanting to come in to look at examples. I do not want people in my house that I do not know. Plus being able to be seen from a road would be nice since I am the type that will just walk in somewhere to see what the deal is.
