Which software
« on: September 11, 2011, 08:59:26 PM »
So I've had my cutter (CE5000-60) for a few days now. I've been playing around, cut a bunch of stuff. Trying to learn the ropes. I have Corel x3, Cutting Master, Inkscape, and Signblazer. It seems like none of them are a perfect solution. I can open some files in Corel that won't open in Signblazer, in Inkscape I can format text how I want, but in Corel, it won't let me italicize many of the fonts. So it seems like I can do something with one program, but have to open up another program to do other things. And to make matter more confusing, I can just switch between the programs, I have to change the command language of my cutter with each change. And Signblazer takes longer to start each time I open it because the trail version thing adds another number to the countdown each time it starts. By the end of the year, I'm going to have time to brew a pot of coffee while waiting for Signblazer to start.

The nice thing about the programs I have is that they were all free. But I'd be willing to pay a few bucks for a program that just works for everything. Is there something between the freebies and the super pricey full service sign shop programs?

Thanks!

Doing some things in one program and others in another does seem to be the name of the game.  I like the ways some things do and not so much in others.  The folks who spent the $$ to have the best programs do like those best.  I prefer  to create the vector in INSCAPE and cut from SC-PRO.  Occasionally I use Vector magic to create a vector, but I always work it in INK.  Scribus is handy to convert files to other formats, but so is INK.  Scribus is a vector design program, but I've not learned how to "use" it as such.

I was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago, I tried a lot of the free trials and like somethings about each of them ended up going with LXI(made by Flexi) and am very happy I found out that it is missing a few of the options that flexi has but is still very good for me. If I learn how to use all of it I could be dangerous!!

 8) We have Corel X3 in our plant and do all cutting with the cutting master plug in software that came with our CE5000-60. Have been usint it fot the past 2.5 years without a single hitch. Also use it at home with X4, haven't needed anything else.

If you want to pay around $100, keep on the look out for Flexi Starter 8.6 with dongle.
The 'other' place used to sell it, but I've heard that it's currently unavailable. ??? ???

it also has a rhinestone part you can add with version 10!

I am playing around with Imagaro Pro Z right now.  Just trying to justify the cost.  Anyone use this and if so, what do you think?  Do you think that it is worth the money?  Thank you for your input...

Imagaro Pro Z is good for color tracing and tracing fonts.
Bought it last year and very happy.
If you go to "show your work" section you can see some of the things I`ve done.
But this is a tracing  program only.

Can you please tell me what the differences are between Imagaro Pro Z and Vector Magic?  Have you used Vector Magic?  I am a little confused...
