Newbie Advice / Re: For those thinking of buying a Vinyl cutter
« Last post by PippinPhotography on November 20, 2017, 03:16:49 PM »
As a person who just got there cutter recently (couple of weeks), I would agree with most everything in that first post. My brother in law discovered I had purchased a cutter and it was in the fedex delivery system and I immediately had 3 differant jobs todo. I then spent the next few days discovering how-to make the graphic that was wanted. My cutter was still in the mail. When it finally did arrive, I ran out to purchase the vinyl color's I needed and then proceeded to learn how to make the cutter work. After assembling the stand, installing the pen. I did a test print which worked. I then put some vinyl in and replaced the pen with the knife and cut my first decal. Ended up doing it twice, but it worked. 2 days later I spent the day and cut out all the decal's I had orders for. I'm learning and the software is a major learning curve, but it is possible to start from a knowledge base of zero and goto a cut sign in very little time. BTW, one of the decal's I first cut, is a multi layer fire dept symbol 2ft square.

I did the same thing when i started .Zero knowledge etc.

I think that's because your parameters are not set well, you can try a few more times

I know this is an old thread, but want to put this out there.

Do not trust this person.
The art is low quality scans that need work before you can cut. (Most, not all)
You will probably not get what you asked for. And your emails are ignored. (Just happened to me)
Has caller ID and will not answer your calls.
Blames every problem on the buyer.
PLEASE, google complaints before thinking about dealing with this guy.

My experience in the last 3 days.

Hi everyone,

New to the vinyl world. Just picked up a Graphtec CE6000-60 with the intention of making decals.

I've been in the T-shirt screen printing industry (for too many years to say) working in the art/separation side of the business. Decided I'd like to try this out since I love working in graphic design.

Hoping to gain some knowledge here from the more experienced people!

I have been making custom instruments for Porsche's, by combining know good stuff, and putting more gauges into a smaller area.  Very helpful on cars with three instrument spots.

So now I am looking to upgrade my techniques and bring my production from silk screen to either a vinyl stencil or a complete print.

That is why I am here to learn, and grow.
