Lots of good info down in the sublimation part of the forums.

http://www.vinylforum.org/smf/sublimation/

There are plenty of dye-sub printers out there in varying costs and features. Check out conde.com for printers and supplies.

One person found a site still selling the alternative dye-sub ink in one of the threads and I believe we are still waiting to hear results of this new supplier.

I currently use the WF1100 for sublimation but use a CIS instead of individual cartridges.  It allows you to buy ink in bulk.  I get mine from ebay instead of paying the ridiculous sawgrass prices through the resellers.  I started with a WF30 but wanted to be able to printer larger items so I upgraded.  The sublimation section is this forum does include a lot of great information.

You're just starting out....and a great printer for getting up and running is the Ricoh GX3e3300N. Very efficient with the inks (1ml of ink on a Ricoh equals 3ml of Epson ink) and outstanding output.  Price is very good as well. Only thing is you are restricted to letter/legal size papers.  Not a problem if you going to do the smaller stuff.  The Ricoh GX7000 is the larger format printer...up to 13x19.

I found mine on Ebay for a very nice deal (brand new). I'll upgrade to the GX7000 later next year (I hope) so I can do the larger stuff. Conde Systems in Mobile, AL sells and supports the Ricohs...and Epsons.

Not to say the Epsons aren't great printers...they've been the inkjet workhorse printers of the sub world for years...but just starting out, I'd go with the gel ink system of the Ricoh. Less trouble.
