I own 2 small business and was thinking of buying the US Cutter's SC series 34" cutter. I would be using it to cut pretty basic lettering and a few clip art graphics. They would be for my A frame signs. For my 2 business and lettering for few registration numbers on friends boat. Like i said just basic stuff. The kit i was going to buy is on ebay and comes with the cutter, Vinyl, Flexi Sign v.10 Starter, transfer tape, Squeegees, and ClipArt deSIGN MINI PACK. Will i need to buy anything else to do what I need I was planing on applying it to cloroplast. Like I said mainly just lettering.

That kit should be plenty to get you started. Be prepared though once you get cutting you fill find all kinds of stuff you can do and before you know it you will be hooked on sandblasting, doing t-shirts, dye sub and more!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have as this forum is full of very helpful folks!

Your kit seems to cover the basics.
If it doesn't contain a selection of vinyl colors,
you will need several basic ones.
White, black, red, blue, green, yellow for starters.
Then the next guy is going to want maroon, hunter green,
lemon yellow and metalic gold!
A few sharp xacto knives, a good long metal edge ruler,
tape measure, coroplast & magnetic blanks.
Other than that, a clean flat dust free place to work,
patience & time.
Good luck!

2 problems I would suggest - skip greenstar vinyl and start with oracal vinyl - much better quality - better to learn with the right stuff to begin with than something that might cause problems. second I would recommend the gcc expert 24 that can be found at places like Joto for 450.00 - much stronger and stable cutter (not yet compatable with mac though) and you will find it much easier to get started. search the uscutter web site for the model you are looking at if buying from them to determine if it is known to have problems.

this is late in the conversation, but i thought i'd ad that what i personally do for obscure colors like maroon, greens, etc is order from Vinyl Village on Etsy. i can buy 12 x 24 inch pieces for next to nothing. i can get like 6 colors for 15 bucks which, for me, is worth it...as i would never use the colors i've bought if i had them in bulk. personally, i don't really have the storage, either. It's oracal 651 and they are good shippers. they have every color under the sun. SUPER nice folks, and they take paypal. i've been back several times. they have different packages based on how many colors you want. you can get 6 or 8, or you can get 20, obviously the price varies.
and it's fresh stuff, no shelved vinyl all nasty. what's also cool about that is if there is several of a shade that i'm not sure of, or can't determine which one i want, i order them both. it's not much of a waste and i'll use it for something. Then, when you can identify colors you love, like i've burned right through my pink, i know what pink it is and can order it in a 24" roll.

take care and good luck! kim
