Square up & GoPayment Anyone use either of these?
« on: December 07, 2011, 07:13:39 PM »
Hey Everyone,
I've been considering using one of these credit card services. I have zero experience with credit cards, other than using em and payin the bill.  ;D I don't sell stuff online so paypal isn't for me, I'm local and deal with people who are local. Don't have a website, at least not yet. One step at a time.

Does anyone use either of these services? I've read the reviews at the 2 links. I'm just trying to figure out what the catch is. Are there any got ya's? Pro's - Con's. Even if you just have an opinion on these, would love to hear it.

Thanks.  :)

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.

@Chris,

Didn't you have to set up a bank account first or did you tie it in to tour personal one? I guess this is another question I have now.

@everyone -

If you tie it to your personal account, doesn't that make you kinda nervous? I'm not sure I'd want it to have access to my little bit of life savings. If I go with one of these services I think I'll open a small separate account. Just a thought.

You can tie it to your personal account (which is what I did) or you can have a seperate account to have the money transfered to. I have a hard enough time trying to keep up with my account and help my mom keep up with hers.  A 3rd would drive me crazy lol.

Square will send you a free reader and they offer next day deposit to your account.  I have signed up, but not processed anything yet.  I did buy something at a art festival using square.   You can email a receipt, that you make for your company, and it has the location of the purchase.  Also the customer has to sign for it...I was impressed.  Will report back once I have sold some item using Square

You are correct about the next day deposits. If you make any large transactions it may take a couple extra days at first until you get a few transactions under your belt and they can basicaly confirm your information. Then its next day deposits from then on out.

So far I'm also a satisfied Square Up customer. I selected them because I only get the odd request to use a credit card. I'd rather take the hit for an extra 0.25%-0.5% fee and not have to pay a money service charge. I just makes business sense for me.
