What do ya think
« on: December 15, 2010, 06:29:49 PM »
My embroidery machine was in the room next to the fire & the place that took it to clean it says it is OK...no mind you every other electronic thing in the house is a total loss...all appliances, our 48" TV, a little TV, our Bose, 2 computers & a  laptop.  The only thing they say is going to work is my 2 sewing machines, & 2 embroidery machines. One of the embroidery machines is a old home embroidery machine, but the other one is a 6 needle Brother...of course I don't have the machines back yet (it has only been 2 months). Would you trust them...I am thinking that I will sew on it & then tell them it isn't working right. I worry about what will happen in a year to the machine.. I really am not trying to screw the insurance co...
I would love your thoughts on it.

Do you trust the place you took it to?
I would ask alot of questions and
contact the mfg if possible,
explain what happened and ask for there help.

Peggy, I would ask for something in writing from them stating that they will be in perfect working order with a timeline stated for the work that was done. If not, I would inform my insurance company that it is a piece of equipment that I make a living with & see what they say.
I agree, what if the machines quit working in a couple of months? Bring that to your insurance agent's attention.

When my house burnt there was some stuff they said was fine also. It took a bit of fighting but I finally got the insurance company to just replace them. I would not take that kind of a risk with the cost of replacing it if something happens.

I have a six needle brother also and no way would I let them tell me it was ok.  Did you take it to a certified brother repair person?  If not I would because I just can't believe all those chip boards made it through a fire without damage.  You know how fragile they are.  And yes what about the next time you are in the middle of a large order and bam it quits, will your warranty stand up?

I'm with you on this one.
