resizing embroidery files
« on: January 25, 2012, 07:24:35 AM »
we have recently purchased a Brother 650 embroidery machine & also PE design software, we are out sourcing the digitizing at the moment, my question is, is it better to buy left breast size & resize to full back size using our software, or the other way round ?
we need  to put logo on front & back, but can't see the point of buying the 2 sizes. any feed back appreciated

I would buy the two sizes.. I use a flat rate digitizer
$15 (pocket/hat) $30 (full back) so for $45 isn't that bad
But the resizing embroidery is much harder than just making it
Bigger, also many time your emb are locked fron your digitzer
You may not even be able resize it

My understanding is if you take a pocket design say 3in X 3in and resize to something bigger, the thread count will be the
same, and probably will not look right.

By increasing the size of a digitized file, you increase the thread count and change the density of the file which can cause thread breaks, thin out the density and yes not look right.

Similar to a low resolution picture, when you increase it just because you change the dpi the jpeg still may not look right.

You can resize an embroidery design by up to 20% using truesizer which is a free software without design distortion.  But there is no way your going to go from a hat size to a full back or anything like that.  I hope this helps.
