UV light
« on: January 03, 2011, 07:16:31 PM »
Do you need a UV light to dry this?

I'm curious if it is the same as a gel nail acrylic?  Does anyone know what it is made of?

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure it's just specially formulated epoxy and will cure just fine without UV light.

Got some but I still haven't played with it yet. I'll try hitting it with UV when I do to see what happens.

There are different types. There are 2 part epoxy resins that cure after mixing together and there are 1 part UV cure resins. Where I ordered sample from there are 2 different UV cure types. One will cure with low output blacklights like you can buy at novelty stores the other requires a higher powered UV light.

Well I'm a licensed nail tech and I have a couple of UV lights that you use for peoples hands so I wondered if they could be used for this also?

I ordered a sample from epoxies.com  I'm not sure exactly what I'll get and hopefully the instructions will be with it :)

I requests samples of both just to see the diffeence. I think the UV cure would be easier as you would have more time to play with it to get it how you want. The two part epoxy has a limited working time once mixed together.

I see there is a pricey UltraDome MiniMax on ebay that uses a UV light. It has limitations such as not being able to use ink jet image unless laminated, also, foot print seems small if you want to do say 100 pieces. interesting kit though.
