Would this be worth it?
« on: January 08, 2012, 12:59:56 PM »
To all you mac users..... what do you think of this?

Although, it does not come with any install disk, would it be worth it?

Thanks for any input.  ;)

I dont think I'd go for it. The machine is several generations old, and you can't go to the current Mac OS as Apple has dropped support for PowerPC machines, same with adobe. I'd also guarantee most, if not all, of the software is not legal. That's just my gut feeling.

I too would pass. With that chipset you can't ever upgrade OS or even get current browsers.
Thank you,

Thanks for the info guys. I would still like to convert to a Mac, but I really don't know enough about them to find that after I bought something, I really just wasted my money.
I'm sure I'll be asking more questions in the future.  ;)

At this point, anything that isn't an Intel based mac, I would stay away from, unless it's free and works.

IMHO - what I've decided with the MACs I've purchased is that the basic I-MAC offered "off the shelf", is plenty sufficient for what we are doing here.  The basic off the shelf, less expensive PC is truly bare bones.  While MAC is more expensive  up front, by the time you build up a PC to have similar qualities/guts to the basic mac, you will be closer in price.  The MAC fit and finish is fantastic.  The software that comes with a MAC is valuable - not nearly like the "bloatware" that clogs a machine.  I-Work (similar to office) is $50 (word processor, power point, spread sheet).  Basic Imac or Macbook pro ~ $1,100.  I Built up a 27" Imac for myself and it was much more.  I'm not sure I would go that large again.

No slams, just what I think...
