I have a customer who had a design made by a friend in Photoshop for the front glass of his tattoo parlor .There was no image pasting etc, He drew this up somehow from scratch and I dont know how to tell him how to save it so i get the full image and highest resolution without any loss of detail so it can be printed and also imported into Ai if needed...I only use Ai  and im not very good in photoshop..So i hope someone has an idea so i can tell him how to save it without losing anything from the image when he sends it to me..Thank you Very much..

Actually it isn't very hard if you have a high resolution black and white Photoshop file.

Have them create the design in 300 dpi or higher resolution.  And in black and white.

Save the file as a black and white TIF.   No color or grey tone.

Then bring the TIF image into Illustrator and "Live Trace" the design.   I choose the black and white logo option.

The key to this process is the high resolution.    If you don't have a high resolution it makes it extremely difficult.

I can help further if it is low resolution.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks  SanDiegoSticker,, Im going to try and upload the file he sent, Once i get this resolved i plan on getting it printed at about a 3foot wide etc by whatever it scales out too. It is for a glass window and it looks like it is going to be white and gold colors so far...

That looks like it's low quality.  Low DPI.    Is the Photoshop file high resolution?

It would be my opinion. To make it black and white and then vectorize it.   But that's just me.

ya its a low Dpi ,But i found out he actually copied this design from another image from online.I told him i wouldn't do this copyright image unless he got the rights to it. I kept telling him to save it as a high res file and for some reason he keeps sending me a crappy one...

Yikes.   It's a great idea but it sounds like it needs to be recreated from scratch in Illustrator.   Copyright aside. (If it wasn't taken from the net.).  You could always pay a vectoring service to recreate it for you.

I was more suggesting that you pay for a service to vectorize it for you.  Rather than try to do it yourself.

I think it would take a service around 3 hrs  time to hand draw it.

Services like Vector Magic.   https://vectormagic.com

You could try their free converter.   But I think in this case paying for one of their specialists would be worth it.

I would offer, but am a little too busy right now.
