« on: January 21, 2012, 09:57:32 AM »
What do I save cmx files to so they are editable

Is there a way to convert multiple files?

You can convert each CDR file individually by opening the file and selecting:
FILE > EXPORT > File Name > Save as type: CMX > EXPORT
I'm not sure but you may still have to convert text to curves first.

I don't know of any way to batch convert CDR files to CMX.

You can also do the same thing but save as EPS.

If you have both Corel and Illy why bother converting them
unless you really need to edit in Illy?

Personally I prefer Corel.

I export CMX file in a PDF file then open in Illustrator.

I prefer Illustrator, but also use Corel at times.

After a couple trials with corel paint shop and corel draw
its easier to convert them in inkscape and save as an eps
corels eps was terrible altho that could have been
me as the terrible one.
No matter I found my solution in inkscape the newer version.
thanks Mark and Suzie

Carl, Ghostscript is free and a helpful addition - operates as a plugin of sorts.  Also, try SCRIBUS (free too) - it requires ghostscript.  I've had some success in small amounts with it as a file converter (it's a design program, but I've opened files of one vector format in it and re-saved in different format).
